SCULPTING

The scupting job is rather mediocre for a figure this size. Kohaku's right forearm looks like it's melting into the rest of her arm as she holds the broom, and many cuts are visable where different pieces were glued together. If you turn Kohaku around, her back actually looks better with more detail than her front, mainly in the kimono, hair, and ribbon. The broom itself is also sculpted well with a lot of realistic detail, but when you buy a character figure, you're not buying it for a prop.

PAINTING

The painting is a bit messy. I scratched around the eyes a little bit and they are definitely stickers. Colors seep into different parts of the figure where they shouldn't and as a result it comes out looking untidy. There is no shading or highlighting, except on the broom, but again, you're not buying a bishoujo figure for a prop. Other than the broom, everything on the figure is a solid color.

PRICE

1500 yen is about $12.40 USD. It's not an expensive figure at all, which makes it somewhat forgivable that there is so much lacking in the detail. However, a figure is still an investment, and there are better Kohaku figures out there. I'd recommend Sol International's Kohaku figure if you're looking for better details, but it's also a lot more pricey! It can be found legit on eBay for around $50 USD, but it looks much better than SEGA's. If you're looking for something semi-decent and affordable, maybe stick to SEGA.

OPINIONS & COMMENTS

Kohaku first appeared in the visual novel Tsukihime, but this figure was marketed for the spin-off fighting game, Melty Blood. While this figure is inexpensive, it doesn't have the best sculpting or painting job. Myself, I'd rather wait and save up for quality, than be stuck with something I may not enjoy having. However, if you are the type of person who goes for quantity over quality, than this figure is definitely affordable. I personally think that this would be an unworthy contribution to any bishoujo figure collection, unless of course it's strictly a Tsukihime/Melty Blood collection.
