SCULPTING
Sorry it took me so long to write this review! I'm finally getting to it now, though! The Faris Nyan-Nyan Nendoroid is very well sculpted. Of course, it's hard to screw up a stylised look such as a Nendoroid, and this is Good Smile Company we are talking about. You pretty much get what you ask for with this combination. The chibi look is consistent with typical Nendoroids and there's not much to talk about there, so let's look at some of her most unique features! The spiral hair is gorgeous and movable, so you can make it look like her hair is blowing in the wind, or that she is throwing it aside for a confident pose. Her bangs are very detailed as well, and her clothes match the original character. The frills are frilly, and her clothes is adorned with cute, thin ribbons! Her signature cat ears look great as well, not changed to look more catlike but true to the original. It's pretty accurate for a chibi. Among her accessories is an omelette, just like the one she served Okabe, which says 世界がヤバい!!, meaning "the world is in danger!!", in ketchup. Very cute!
PAINTING
Again, this is GSC we are talking about, and they are my absolute favourite painters when it comes to figures. On this figure however, there is a bit of room for improvement! Faris's hair is beautifully shaded with light and dark pinks among the sculpted edges, her eyes are pretty and bright like in the VN/anime, and there is even a cute face with her eyes shut that has a subtle yet noticeable blush. The painting everywhere else is also very accurate and the colour does not ever seep onto the wrong object... But her clothes does not have the same gorgeous shading as her hair! The apron is pure white with no grey, and her vest is pure black. Perhaps it's because she's super-deformed and thus more "cartoony", so there's less reason for detailed colouring... But I imagine this could look much better if it had the shading it lacks. On the box, it shows that there is an image on the bottom of a card she is playing for one of her props. However, the actual prop for this figure does not actually have any image on it.
PRICE
¥3619 is cheap when it comes to figures, and it's also very average for Nendoroids. I don't have any particular feelings towards the price. I really like Faris's cute character design plus I'm a huge fan of Steins;Gate, so I bought her easily without much debating in my mind. I later ended up buying Kurisu and Mayuri Nendoroids, so it's nice to have the entire Nendoroid set (excluding Kurisu white coat ver. anyway). Faris features a hand of cards plus one card she is playing, a dish, an omelette on a dish, kitty paw hands, a winking face, a face with eyes open, and a face with eyes closed, as well as hands/arms suitable for each prop.
OPINIONS & COMMENTS
Faris Nyan-Nyan is a pretty good Nendoroid. It captures all of the important things that makes her who she is, such as her extreme love for moe, being a catgirl, a waitress, loving TCG, and even a moment from the story when Okabe ordered an omelette. Good Smile Company is great with both sculpting and painting, so it's easy to like this figure as long as you are a fan of Faris and Nendoroids. I know I complained a bit about the painting, but in actuality, it's rare for a Nendoroid to have detailed shading aside from hair. My Mayuri Nendoroid has amazing shading all over her clothes and it's just beautiful, but unfortunately, most Nendoroids tend to have solid colour over their clothing. I do hope they work on more detailed shading in the future, but for now, the Faris Nendoroid we currently have is as good as you're gonna get for this character. It's really an adorable Nendoroid, so if you decide to get one, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
